  • LSA Organization

    LSA is governed by a board which is elected at the Annual General Meeting. LSA sponsors this once a year meeting in different cities in Louisiana and it is open to everyone. It is here that officers are elected and policies are voted on. There are also numerous talks, demonstrations and meeting of general interest to soccer coaches, fans and players. Many of LSA's programs are created and administered by the Director of Coaching (Sam Snow ). The office is run by the Administrator (Terri Brunson ).

    LSA gets it's funding from player fees that are charged by local organizations. $9 of each player dues goes to LSA.

    LSA Relationship to National Organizations

    Louisiana Soccer Association is a National State Association member of the United States Soccer Federation (US Soccer - USSF) and a member of both the youth division (United States Youth Soccer Association - USYSA) and the amateur division (United States Amateur Soccer Association - USASA). The vast majority of soccer played in the world is played under the umbrella of FIFA. US Soccer in the national governing body for the United States affiliated with FIFA and the United States Olympic Committee. National State Associations are direct members of US Soccer and may participate with either the youth or amateur division or both. LSA represents the players and coaches within the state at all regional and national meetings and has voting rights in proportion to the number of registered players at both the youth and amateur level. LSA acts as the liaison between US Soccer and the local leagues for the purposes of rule changes and referee affiliation. LSA obtains liability and secondary medical insurance at group rates for its member organizations, players and coaches. LSA is also charged with being the first rung on the selection ladder for national team selection for Olympic or other events. It conducts tryouts statewide that are open to all United States citizens, whether members of LSA or not, and selects the best soccer players to proceed to regional and national tryouts.

    LSA oversees the operation of the Local Leagues
    Local Leagues may join LSA. To get information on becomming an affiliated league, please call the office for a packet. Once affiliated with LSA, the Local League will draft a set of by-laws.
